The Esso Women's Nationals is the Senior Women's Championship. The 2007 event is in Salmon Arm, BC March 5th to 10th.

Playing on frozen ponds and rivers, the first documented women's hockey game was held in Barrie, Ontario in 1892, two years before the first Stanley Cup championship. Players of the day wore traditional clothing of long skirts, wool sweaters, gloves and toques. » more
Abby Hoffman Cup
In the mid 1950's, Abigail Hoffman was a very keen and talented 8-year old hockey player. She registered as "Ab" Hoffman in a tyke league, after viewing an ad she claims did not state that girls couldn't apply. Thirty-three kilogram Ab Hoffman played left defence for a whole season, and was selected to be a member of the all-star team. » more
