2010 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

Pacific 10 - Atlantic 4

PACIFIC REBOUNDS WITH CONVINCING WIN OVER ATLANTIC

TIMMINS, Ont. – There would be no blown lead this time, Pacific made sure of that.

One day after outplaying and outshooting Russia for 40 minutes, only to implode in the third period of a 6-2 loss, Pacific opened up a 4-1 first-period lead on its way to a 10-4 win over Atlantic on Wednesday, getting into the win column at the 2010 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Reece Scarlett scored one and added four assists to pace the offence, while Miles Bell scored twice and Ty Rattie and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins chipped in four helpers apiece. Nine different players scored goals for Pacific (1-1), which had its biggest offence output since a pair of 11-goal games in 2006 – one of which came against Atlantic.

Atlantic got to within three goals at 4-1 and 5-2, but a late burst by the western Canadians, three goals in the first six minutes of the third period, put the game well out of reach.

Darcy Ashley scored twice for Atlantic (0-2), while Bruce Hornbrook and Taylor Burke also added goals. The easterners have allowed 17 goals in their first two games.
