LUNOV SCORES GAME-WINNER AS SISEC DEFEATS BANFF 4-1 AT THE WSSC

CALGARY, Alta. – Liam Sweeney and Neeko Coleman scored one goal and added one assist apiece and Pavlo Lunov scored the game-winner as the Swiss International Sports & Education Center defeated the Banff Hockey Academy 4-1 on Saturday in a Varsity Division match-up at the World Sport School Challenge.

In an evenly played first period that saw SISEC narrowly outshoot Banff by a 13-12 margin, it was Sweeney that found the back of the net, banging home a rebound on the man-advantage to give SISEC a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

SISEC turned it up on a notch in the middle stanza, hammering Banff with 19 shots on goal, two of which found the back of the net as Lunov found himself all alone in front of the net and was able to snap the puck past Banff goaltender Dagen Kenneny and just over five minutes later Coleman made it 3-0 with a backhand shot from the slot.

The teams traded goals in the third period as Alex Przibislawsky-Bodo broke SISEC goaltender Kay Seiler’s shutout bid to make it 3-1, however SISEC would come right back on a goal from Arseny Ivanov, who went end-to-end and hammered the puck home to make it 4-1 SISEC.

SISEC will face Edge School – Gold on Sunday morning in a battle between two teams with 1-1 records at the WSSC, while later in the day Banff will take on Edge School – Maroon in the Varsity Division finale on Day 3.
