SCHOVANEK IS PERFECT AS OHA OPENS WITH 6-0 WIN OVER SIS

CALGARY, Alta. –  Max Fritz scored a pair of goals 20 seconds apart, Drew Carter added two assists and Ethan Schovanek stopped all 17 shots he faced for the shutout as the Okanagan Hockey Academy kicked-off the 2013 World Sport School Challenge with a 6-0 win over Swiss International Sports & Education Center in Varsity Division action on Friday.

With just four seconds left in Okanagan forward Jason Cohan’s five-minute major, Fritz netted his first of the game to open the scoring for Okanagan and just 20 seconds later Fritz was at it again, this time netting a power-play marker to extend the lead to 2-0 after one period.

Okanagan didn’t let up in the middle stanza, as Keith Comte added a shorthanded goal 5:48 into the period, while Daniel Nault scored their first even-strength goal of the game to make it 4-0 just under 10 minutes later to give Okanagan a comfortable lead headed into the final period.

Cole Perison and Oleg Potemkin added goals in the third period as Okanagan cruised to a 6-0 victory, outshooting the Swiss by a count of 29-17.

Okanagan looks to go to 2-0 on Saturday against Edge School – Maroon in the Varsity Division night-cap, while the Swiss hope to pick up their first victory of the WSSC against the Banff Hockey Academy earlier in the day.
