2009 TELUS Cup

Calgary Buffaloes 3 - Rousseau Sports de Laval-Bourassa 3

ROUSSEAU SPORTS GET SHORTHANDED GOAL IN THIRD, EARN 3-3 TIE WITH BUFFALOES

SELKIRK, Man. – The Calgary Buffaloes can’t seem to buy a win at the 2009 TELUS Cup. But they aren’t losing much either.

The Pacific Region champions allowed a third-period tying goal, this time a shorthanded marker by Michaël Ortika, as they skated to a 3-3 tie with the Rousseau Sports de Laval-Bourassa on Thursday night.

Just as it did Monday, when it finished 4-4 with the Notre Dame Hounds, Calgary took a lead into the third period, but could only manage a single point. The Buffaloes (1-1-2) led 4-2 entering the final 20 minutes on Thursday before the Quebec representatives notched a pair of goals six minutes apart to pull out the draw.

Greg Lamoureux, Brandon McLean and Dylan Nowakowski scored goals in a span of 9:36 in the second period to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead for the Buffaloes heading into the second intermission. Lamoureux and Tot each added an assist to their goals, while Sam Brittain made 38 saves in the Calgary goal.

Sébastien Bergeron scored once and added two assists for the Rousseau Sports (1-1-2), who sit tied with the Buffaloes in the standings with one game left for each – Laval-Bourassa faces Winnipeg on Friday (4:30 p.m. CT), while Calgary goes up against Moncton (10 a.m. CT).

Eliezer Sherbatov also scored for Laval-Bourassa.
