The Robert Guertin arena was buzzing with anticipation for the game between the Host team Gatineau Intrepide and the Atlantic representative Cole Harbour MaCain’s.  There was faced paced, end-to-end action as both teams fed off the excitement of the opening cerimonies.  The Intrepide struck first, when capitan Olivier Donovan made a great pass from behind the net to set up Nicholas Pitsikoulis at 14:19.  The host team quickly added to their lead 12 seconds later with a goal by Simon Danis-Pépin, and an early 2-0 lead.  Gatineau continued to pressure and added another as Francois Lebeaubackhanded home a rebound to put the Hosts up 3-0 half way through the first period.  Cole Harbour responded and out chanced the Intrepide in the last half of the period.  Intrepide goltender Maxim Gougeon made a great blocker stop off a shot from in close by Michael Withrow with a minute left to keep the score 3-0 at the end of the first period. 

The second period started similar to the first, as Gatineau scored another quick goal.  This time with Nicolas Morin converting a nice pass from Donovan at 1:20 into the second to put the Intrepide up 4-0.  The goal also chased Cole Harbour starting goaltender Sean Murphey in favour of Michael Muir.  After the goaltending change, the period was evenly contested until Pitsikoulis scored his second of the night on a great second effort in front of the net with 3:27 to go in the period.  As the period ended, the Intrepide had a comfortable 5-0 lead. 

The Gatineau intrepide again got off to a fast start in the third period, outshooting Coal Harbour 7-0 in the first seven minutes.  Cole Harbour thought they got on the board when a rebound in front of the Intrepide net went off the crossbar and the goal judge’s light went on, but the referee immediately waived off the goal.  3 minutes later, the Hosts extended their lead with Guillaum Mallioux slid home a rebound under a defenseless Muir to make the score 6-0.  Intrepide capitan Donovan picked up his fourth assist of the night on the goal.  The Intrepide continued to control the rest of the third period, holding on to the shut out for Gougeon and outshooting the Atlantic representative 14-5 and 37-19 for the game.  The player of the game for Cole Harbour was Zach Sill and with a two goal perfromance Nicholas Pitsikoulis was chosen for the Gatineau Intrepide.
