Director of Communications - Dave Fischer, USA Hockey

Dave Fischer, senior director of communications for USA Hockey, is responsible on a day-to-day basis of overseeing USA Hockey’s overall communications effort, including publications, as well as media and public relations. Fischer, who joined USA Hockey’s national office as the director of communications in November 2004, was elevated to the newly created position of senior director of communications in December 2009.

In his role at USA Hockey, Fischer has held the lead communications role for multiple U.S. squads, including the 2006 and 2010 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey teams.

He led USA Hockey’s efforts in establishing and executing Hockey Weekend Across America and also guides activities – including the selection process and induction event – associated with the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.

Fischer spent 17 years at Michigan Tech University (1987-2004), where he served as assistant athletic director for communications and marketing. During his tenure, more than 40 MTU athletic publications earned citations of excellence from the College Sports Information Directors Association of America, while revenue from advertising and sponsorship more than quadrupled. He was inducted into the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame on November 7, 2009.

Fischer has served on the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four staff since 1989 and was a media liaison at the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival in San Antonio, Texas. He served on the CoSIDA Board of Directors from 1999-2002 and has been a member of the organization since 1987.
