Canada’s National Sledge Team has finished with the silver medal at the 2015 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship after a 3-0 loss to the United States in Sunday’s gold medal game at HarborCenter.

It is the first time Canada has won silver at the world championship; it has now won three gold medals (2000, 2008, 2013), one silver (2015) and three bronze (1996, 1999, 2012), finishing fourth in 2004.

On Sunday, Canadian goaltender Corbin Watson (Kingsville, Ont.) was spectacular, finishing with 18 saves and helping the game get to the third period scoreless, but three American goals in the final 15 minutes were the difference.

Following the game, Watson was named the tournament’s top goaltender after posting a 0.80 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and three shutouts in his five starts.

Canada finished with three of the top four scorers in the tournament; Billy Bridges (Summerside, P.E.I.) led with 13 points (nine goals, four assists), while Brad Bowden (Orton, Ont.) finished third with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and Greg Westlake (Oakville, Ont.) was fourth with 10 (six goals, four assists).
