TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – TRENTON GOLDEN HAWKS

In the Ontario Junior Hockey Legaue this season, there were the Trenton Golden Hawks, and there was everyone else. The Golden Hawks ran away with their second OJHL regular-season championship in four seasons, finishing with a 14-point cushion over the second-place Georgetown Raiders. Trenton opened its schedule with a 12-game winning streak and never looked back, losing just nine times in 54 games. It was almost unbeatable on home ice, dropping just a single game in regulation time as the host (23-1-1-3). The Golden Hawks were middle-of-the-pack on offence, scoring 193 goals (10th in the OJHL), led by Danny Hanlon’s 60 points, the league’s 19th-best total. But it was on defence where Trenton blew away the competition; it allowed just 102 goals, the lowest total since Huntsville gave up 92 in 2007-08, and led the OJHL in penalty killing at 90.7%. Daniel Urbani starred between the pipes, posting 34 wins, a 1.69 goals-against average (the fourth-best GAA in league history), and five shutouts, all OJHL-best marks.
