TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – SUMMERSIDE WESTERN CAPITALS
The RBC Cup hosts were the class of the MHL during the regular season; the Capitals finished with a massive 22-point lead over Woodstock for the Meek Division lead, and were seven points up on Truro for first in the league. Summerside finished the season on a remarkable run, winning 24 of its final 25 games from Dec. 9 on, the lone loss coming to Woodstock on Feb. 1. Midseason acquisition Danny Chiasson was an offensive juggernaut for the Western Capitals, recording at least a point in 19 of 21 games after the Dec. 21 trade with Dieppe and finishing the year with points in 12 straight. His 35 points with Summerside, and 88 overall, left him tied for the league scoring lead, while Mitchell Maynard made it two Caps in the top five with 70 points. Goaltender Kevin Bailie, a trade deadline pick-up from the OHL, posted a 1.90 goals-against average in 11 games with Summerside, while Jacob Riley finished second in the league with 23 wins and was top five in both GAA (2.37) and save percentage (.915).
