TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – SASKATOON STARS
The Saskatoon Stars ran off 13 wins in a row to open their schedule on their way to capturing their first SFMAAAHL regular season championship. Led by the league’s top two scorers – Nara Elia (23 goals) and Sophia Shirley (22 goals) – the Stars scored 75 more goals than they allowed (the second-place Prince Albert Bears were next best at +37) and were good for a power play goal nearly every game (27). A dozen players, including five rookies, chipped in with at least 10 points, and Willow Slobodzian’s 19 points put her second among all defenceman. Emma Johnson went 14-0 in the Saskatoon goal, leading the league in wins, as well as goals-against average (1.28), and finishing second in save percentage (.933). Teammate Karlee Fetch was in net for the team’s other 11 wins, posting a 1.79 GAA and .910 save percentage.
