TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – EDMONTON THUNDER
New season, same result in the AMMFHL. The Edmonton Thunder lost only five games all season to win the North Division and defend its regular season championship, finishing four points clear of the South Division champs, the Highwood Raiders. The Thunder has been the only team to represent the Pacific Region at the Esso Cup since its inception in 2009. This season the team dominated at both ends of the ice, scoring the most goals in the league and surrendering the fewest. The offence was led by Alexandra Poznikoff and Nicole Gorda, who finished fourth and fifth in the league in scoring. They were joined by three teammates – Amy Boucher, Brett Campbell and Cayle Dillion – in the top 11. Goalies Mackenzie Bevan and Tracie Kikuchi were one-two in goals-against average, with marks of 1.56 and 1.60, respectively. The duo gave up only 49 goals in 33 games and combined for 10 shutouts.
