TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – NOTRE DAME ARGOS
The Notre Dame Argos continued their school’s winning tradition in 2013-14, earning 33 victories in 44 tries – the only SMAAAHL team to reach the 30-win plateau – to edge the Battlefords Stars by three points for first place. The key to the Argos’ success was simple – they scored. A lot. Notre Dame put 236 pucks in the net in 44 games, a whopping 58 more than Battlefords, which was next best at 178. Despite the high-scoring offence, the Argos had just four players in the top 20 of SMAAAHL scoring, led by Dillon Dube, who finished sixth. Overall, six players averaged at least a point a game, and eight had 40 points or more. Defensively, Notre Dame was fourth-best in the league, allowing 124 goals; goaltender Dylan Ferguson tied for the league lead with 18 wins, and his 2.62 goals-against average was good for seventh.
