CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada announced Wednesday that Martin Raymond (Pierrefonds, Que.), head coach of the QMJHL’s Voltigeurs de Drummondville, will serve as an assistant coach with Canada’s National Junior Team at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, scheduled for Dec. 26, 2014 to Jan. 5, 2015 in Toronto, Ont., and Montreal, Que.

Raymond will work alongside head coach Benoit Groulx, and assistant coaches Dave Lowry and Scott Walker.

He will also be involved with Misha Donskov, Hockey Canada’s manager of hockey operations, analytics and video, pre-scouting Canada’s opponents as part of the team’s preparations at the World Juniors.

Raymond won a gold medal with Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team at the 2014 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in August, and also served as head coach of Quebec at the 2004 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, winning a bronze medal.

He is in his second season with Drummondville, having spent the previous four years as an assistant coach with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning and AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.

Raymond was head coach of the men’s hockey team at McGill University from 1995 to 2009, winning the OUA championship in 2006 and 2008 and earning CIS coach of the year honours in 2005-06.
