The road to the 2014 World Junior A Challenge will go through Toronto, Ont., and Calgary, Alta.

Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Thursday the dates and locations for Canada East and Canada West selection camps ahead of the Dec. 14-20 tournament.

Canada East kicks off its camp Saturday, Dec. 6 with the arrival of 40 players to Buckingham Arena in Toronto, while Canada West camp begins the next day, Sunday, Dec. 7, with 60 players gathering at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary.

The Canada East camp includes two teams, who will practice daily and play two intrasquad games – Dec. 7 (7:30 p.m. ET) and Dec. 8 (7:30 p.m. ET). Select players will then face a team of 1994-born players from the Ontario Junior Hockey League on Dec. 9 (4:30 p.m.).

After the final Canada East roster is announced – either late Dec. 9 or early Dec. 10 – the team will practice on the afternoon of Dec. 10 before departing for Kindersley, Sask.

The format for Canada West camp differs slightly; 60 players will divided into three teams, which will practice on Dec. 7 before playing four intrasquad games over two days, Dec. 8-9. Games in Calgary will consist of two 25-minute, running time periods.

Like Canada East, Canada West will finalize its roster on Dec. 9 or Dec. 10, and will practice on the afternoon of Dec. 10 before it boards a bus and heads east to Kindersley.

Rosters for the selection camps will be announced in early December.
