CALGARY, Alta. – Defenceman Thomas Chabot, a first-round pick of the Ottawa Senators at this year’s NHL Entry Draft, will be joining some of Canada’s top juniors at the Hockey Canada National Teams’ Summer Showcase August 1-6, 2015.

The 18-year-old from Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce, Que., was selected 18th overall by the Senators during the June draft, and replaces injured Mitchell Vande Sompel (London, Ont./Oshawa, OHL). Chabot has played the last two seasons with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL, and led the team’s defencemen in scoring in 2014-15.

In addition to the Summer Showcase hosted in Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park, Chabot and camp invitees will monitored during the first few months of the 2015-16 season and at the CHL Super Series to determine who will be invited to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp in December. In total, 22 players will be selected to represent Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2015 to Jan. 5, 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.
