CALGARY, Alta. – With just over six months to go before six teams battle it out for female Midget hockey supremacy at the 2017 Esso Cup, Hockey Canada, the host committee and partners from Hockey Manitoba and the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, announced the launch of ticket packages for the week-long event.

Canada’s National Female Midget Championship, the Esso Cup, takes place April 23-29, 2017 at the Access Event Centre where the host Pembina Valley Hawks will try to become the first host team to win the national title, and the first team to win multiple gold medals; Pembina Valley was crowned champion and hoisted the trophy in 2012.

The ticket-launch comes as the Pembina Valley Hawks prepare to host an eight-team Thanksgiving Showcase tournament on the weekend.

“The excitement is building and the host committee is excited to kick off the ticket-sales campaign for the 2017 Esso Cup,” said Clare Agnew, chair of the host committee. “The teams participating in this weekend’s Showcase will be working hard all year to earn a spot to return to the region for the Esso Cup.”

Full-event packages, which includes 15 preliminary-round games, two semifinals, and the bronze- and gold-medal games are available for $60 for general admission seating and $80 for preferred seating.

As the host community, Morden can expect to generate in excess of $1 million in local economic impact through the provision of services to the athletes and families that travel into the community for the event. Additionally, the entire net profit of the event will be retained locally as a legacy of the event to continue to grow girls’ hockey in the community.
