When NHL Central Scouting released its final rankings of prospects eligible for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, one list in particular had a distinct Team Canada feel. Thirty-eight of the top 100 North American skaters have represented their country – or their province/region – against international competition within Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence.

Here’s a closer look at what those 38 players have already accomplished as they get closer to learning where their next hockey homes will be.

36 – players who have competed at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Six played in 2013 in Victoriaville/Drummondville, Que., 29 were in Cape Breton, N.S., in early 2014, and one – Nathan Noel – competed at both. Noel was an alternate captain for host Atlantic, one year after being the youngest member of the team as an under-ager.

9 – players who have won a medal at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Jansen Harkins captained Pacific to a silver medal in 2014. His teammates that year included Glenn Gawdin, Brendan Guhle, Noah Juulsen, Nick Merkley, Adam Musil, Chaz Reddekopp, Tyler Soy and Parker Wotherspoon.

4 – players who’ve captained a Canadian team. Ethan Bear (West), Jansen Harkins (Pacific), Travis Konecny (Ontario) and Jérémy Roy (Quebec) all wore the ‘C’ at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Konecny also captained Canada’s gold-medal-winning team at the 2014 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

2 – players who participated in the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics. A hat trick by Ryan Gropp led Canada to a 7-5 win over the United States in the bronze medal game. The forward had a team-best six goals during the event; Ryan Pilon had three goals and two assists from the blue-line.

1 – player with a gold medal from the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship. Connor McDavid led the tournament in scoring (8G 6A) and was named Best Forward by the IIHF Directorate.

6 – members of Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team that won bronze at the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship. Lawson Crouse scored the game-winner (his only point of the tournament) just past the midway mark of the game, as Canada defeated Sweden 3-1.

15 – players who brought home bronze from the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship. Gawdin had two goals to lead the offence in a 5-2 win over Switzerland.

1 – player who competed at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship. Connor McDavid scored his only goal in Canada’s 3-2 win over the United States on New Year’s Eve. He also had three assists during the tournament.

2 – players who won gold at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship. McDavid had three goals and eight assists and was named to the media all-star team. Crouse contributed a goal and two assists on Canada’s run to a 16th World Juniors title.

2 –members of Canada’s 2013 National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team. Both late 1996ers, Ryan Pilon and Alexandre Carrier won gold at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament.

19 – players who won gold at the 2014 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. Two goals from Crouse and singles from Dylan Strome, Mitchell Marner, Konecny and Nicolas Roy propelled the team to a 6-2 win over co-host Czech Republic in the gold medal game. (Callum Booth, NHL Central Scouting’s second-ranked North American goaltender, was also on the team.)

11 – players invited to the National Teams’ Summer Showcase. Forty players in total will be in Calgary, Alta., for Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Development Camp.

129 – points put up by Dylan Strome during the 2014-15 regular season, most of any of the 38 POE alumni during their draft year.

4 – members of the Seattle Thunderbirds (Mathew Barzal, Ethan Bear, Ryan Gropp and Keegan Kolesar) among the top 100 North American skaters who’ve played in the POE, most of any Canadian Hockey League team.

5 – players who’ve been to the Memorial Cup. Mitchell Vande Sompel and the Oshawa Generals went 4-0 in winning the 2015 championship, defeating Nick Merkley and the Kelowna Rockets twice (including in the final), and Simon Bourque and the Rimouski Oceanic along the way. Mitchell Marner (London Knights) and Anthony Richard (Val-d’Or Foreurs) competed in 2014.
