TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – VANCOUVER NORTH WEST GIANTS
Another year, another first-place finish for the Giants, who took top spot in the B.C. Major Midget League for the fourth time in as many seasons by finishing eight points clear of the Cariboo Cougars. Vancouver NW has been on the cusp of a TELUS Cup appearance in each of the last two seasons, losing 3-2 on home ice in Game 3 to the Calgary Buffaloes in 2009 before winning the first game of the best-of-three in Red Deer last year before dropping the last two, including another one-goal heartbreaker in Game 3. Up front the Giants were led by the duo of Alex Kerfoot and Sam Reinhart, who finished one-two in BCMML scoring, led by Kerfoot’s 108 points in just 38 games. Vancouver NW also held their own in the defensive zone – its 98 goals against was second-best in the league.
