Fort McMurray to Host Second Red-White Game

EDMONTON, Alta. – Hockey Canada and the host committee for the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship announced Friday that tickets for the Red-White game at Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp at Rexall Place will go on sale at 10 a.m. MT next Tuesday, May 31.

Tickets for the August 6 game are available for $12 (plus applicable fees) at Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-855-985-5000. Please note the game will be general admission.

It was also announced Thursday that a second Red-White game will be held August 7 at the Casman Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. Tickets are on sale to the general public on July 15.

“Once again world-class talent is coming to Fort McMurray and we are proud to host the best junior hockey players in Canada,” said Councillor Don Scott of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. “This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to showcase the Big Spirit our residents have for hockey and supporting our national athletes.”

Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp, scheduled for August 3-7, will bring more than 40 of Canada’s top under-20 players together for the first step on the road to the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will be held to in Calgary and Edmonton.

“We’re thrilled to not only bring the excitement of the camp to Edmonton, but to Fort McMurray as well as we strive to bring Alberta together for this winter’s World Juniors,” said Al Coates, executive director of the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Further details regarding Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp, including a full practice schedule, will be announced at a later date.
