2009 TELUS Cup less than 100 days away
The 2009 TELUS Cup host committee has announced a significant date leading up to the National Midget Championship, slated for the Selkirk Recreation Complex from April 20-26.
As of this past weekend, the tournament is just 100 days out and, with just over three months remaining before the puck drops to officially open the prestigious event, excitement is building toward what is expected to be one of the most successful TELUS Cup tournaments to date.
“We very excited by the response we’ve received in the Capital District Region about the event leading up to the New Year,” said 2009 TELUS Cup host committee chair Rob Cox. “From conversations on the street to ticket package sales and corporate support, we feel we’re definitely moving forward to producing a tremendously successful event.”
Full ticket packages for the tournament have reached the 200 mark, with an additional 2,300 individual tickets sold through the 2009 TELUS Cup Schools’ Program, which targets local area schools to attend weekday morning games of the tournament.
Ticket packages for the entire tournament can be purchased for just $79 (plus convenience fee) and are obtainable through Ticketmaster, Winnipeg Minor Hockey Association, Hockey Manitoba and Keystone Sports (Selkirk).
In terms of business support, the host committee has 15 corporate partners confirmed and is currently negotiating with several others en route to undoubtedly exceed the committee’s original corporate goals.
The 2009 TELUS Cup will feature the best Midget teams from five regions across Canada (Pacific, West, Central, Quebec and Atlantic) along with the host Winnipeg Thrashers, who were silver medal winners at last year’s event in Arnprior, Ontario.
