SASKATOON, Sask. – Hockey Canada will nominate its men’s hockey roster to the Canadian Olympic Team for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games during a special press conference on December 30 at 11 a.m. CT/noon ET at WorldFest in Saskatoon.

The announcement coincides with Hockey Canada’s hosting of the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatchewan. Hockey Canada will be nominating this roster to the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) for inclusion on the official Olympic team, which will be announced formally by the COC in January 2010.

“With the hockey world focused on Saskatchewan and the World Juniors at this time of year, Saskatoon will be a great location for Hockey Canada to unveil Canada’s men’s Olympic hockey roster,” said Hockey Canada president and CEO Bob Nicholson. “It will be an exciting day for us and Canadian hockey fans, as we take a large step towards representing Canada proudly in men’s and women’s hockey at the Winter Olympics and in sledge hockey at the Paralympics.”

The Hockey Canada press conference will be broadcast live as part of an exclusive coverage partnership on thirteen television networks which are part of Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Consortium, entitled Canada’s Pride: The Selection of the Men’s Olympic Hockey Team.

Canada’s Men’s Olympic Team management team will be on-site for the announcement: Hockey Canada president/CEO Bob Nicholson, Hockey Canada executive vice-president of hockey operations Johnny Misley, executive director Steve Yzerman and associate directors Doug Armstrong, Kevin Lowe and Ken Holland, as well as head coach Mike Babcock.

Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium is a unique relationship between leading media conglomerates CTV Inc. and Rogers Media Inc., which together will provide unprecedented coverage and consumer choice in English, French and multi-languages on multiple platforms for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the London 2012 Games of the Olympiad.  Official brands include CTV, TSN, RDS, RIS Info Sports, Rogers Sportsnet, OMNI, OLN, V, APTN, ATN, CTVOlympics.ca, RDSolympiques.ca, The Globe and Mail, Corus Québec and select Rogers radio stations across the country.

Saskatoon’s WorldFest, located at 230 Marquis Drive, will play host to live entertainment, great food, contests and access to live broadcasts during the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. Details on fan access to WorldFest on December 30 for the Men’s Olympic Team roster announcement will be announced in the near future.
