2009 Esso Cup Begins Sunday in Calgary, Alberta

CALGARY, Alta. – Five teams from across Canada will converge on Calgary beginning Sunday as the 2009 Esso Cup kicks off at Max Bell Centre. The event, the first-ever National Female Midget Championship, will run from April 19-25, 2009.

The Calgary Flyers will play host to the Edmonton Thunder (Pacific), Scarborough Sharks (Ontario), Northern Stars (Atlantic) and Westman Wildcats (West), as the five teams play for the right to call themselves national champions.

The gold medal game on Saturday, April 25 will begin at 2 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on TSN2. It will be shown on the main TSN network beginning at 12:30 a.m. ET/9:30 p.m. PT.

The start times for the bronze medal game and the gold medal games have been moved up; the bronze medal game will now begin at 10 a.m. MT with the gold medal game following at 2 p.m. MT.

TICKETS

Single game tickets for the 2009 Esso Cup will be available at the door.

Prices are as follows:

  • Full tournament pass: $30
  • Day pass (excluding semifinals and medal games): $5
  • Bronze medal game: $7
  • Gold medal game: $7

National Team Packs will also be available for purchase. These include an Esso Cup tournament pass, National Women’s Team season pass (Fall 2009, 15 games) and two tickets to the National Men’s Team orientation camp Red-White game ( at the Pengrowth Saddledome). Only 500 packs are available for $50.
