CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada has announced details of Canada’s National Sledge Team’s selection camp, which will take place September 5-7 at the Milton Sports Centre in Milton, ON.

Thirty players – four goaltenders, eight defencemen and 18 forwards – will compete for spots on the National Sledge Team for the 2008-09 season. Head coach Jeff Snyder (Elmira, ON) will work with assistant coaches Shawn Frydberg (Concord, ON) and Mike Mondin (Trail, BC) in determining Canada’s 18-player roster.

Canada’s National Sledge Team will compete in a number of tournaments during 2008-09, including the World Sledge Hockey Challenge and 2009 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship (May 5-16, 2009 in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic), of which Canada is the defending champion.

“Each year, it’s getting harder and harder to make this team,” says Snyder. “We’re excited with the depth of talent that we have in Canada for sledge hockey. We expect a competitive camp in Milton.”

The 30 players will be on the ice Friday, Saturday and Sunday for practices and Red-White games, all of which are open to the public free of charge.
