Canada Goes for Gold at IIHF World Women's Championship Live on TSN and TSN Broadband

The best female hockey players in the world head to Winnipeg and Selkirk, MB for the 2007 IIHF World Women’s Championship. TSN and TSN Broadband have live coverage from April 7 to 10, with two Team Canada playoff games and the gold medal game.

TSN’s Dave Randorf will be joined in the broadcast booth by analyst and two-time Olympic gold medalist Cassie Campbell, with CTV Winnipeg’s Leah Hextall as rinkside reporter. SportsCentre anchor Holly Horton rounds out the broadcast team as event host.

The IIHF World Women’s Championship broadcast schedule

is as follows:

Saturday, April 7 – Team Canada

Playoff Game at 4:30 p.m. ET

Monday, April 9 – Team Canada

Playoff Game at 8:30 p.m. ET

Tuesday, April 10 – Gold Medal Game

at 8:30 p.m. ET

The games will be available on-demand on TSN Broadband at www.TSN.ca following the conclusion of live broadcasts.

The IIHF World Women’s Championship features the top 9 countries in women’s hockey, with seeding for the event based on the results from the last World Championship, held in 2005. Countries taking part include: United States (1), Canada (2), Sweden (3), Finland (4), Germany (5), China (6), Kazakhstan (7), Switzerland (8) and Russia (9).

Team Canada is the two-time defending Olympic Champion, having captured gold in 20. Canadian teams have won the gold medal at eight of the nine IIHF World Women’s Championships, finishing with silver in 2005. This year’s tournament marks the fifth time the event is being held in Canada.
