Canada Advances to World Women's Championship Gold Medal Final Canada vs. USA -- Live on TSN/RDS on Tuesday, April 10 at 8:30pm et / 5:30Pm Pt

WINNIPEG, MB – Canada’s National Women’s Team advanced to a tenth consecutive gold medal final at the 2007 IIHF World Women’s Championship with a 5-0 win over Finland on Monday evening. Canada will face USA in the gold medal final on Tuesday, April 10th, at 7:30 pm (local time)/ 8:30 pm (Eastern) / 5:30pm (Pacific) with the game being broadcast live across Canada on TSN/RDS.

Canada, who outshot Finland 44 to 22, was led offensively by Vicky Sunohara with three assists and Danielle Goyette with a goal and two assists. Canadian goaltender Kim St-Pierre had the shutout.

Canada beat USA in their previous match-up at this event, winning 5-4 in a shootout on April 7th. Canada has won eight World Championships (2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1997, 1994, 1992, 1990), but lost in the 2005 IIHF World Women’s Championship final in Sweden in another shootout to the United States of America.

The 2007 IIHF World Women’s Championship gold medal final in Winnipeg is sold out, with over 15,000 ticket holders ready for Tuesday evening’s finale. However, tickets are still available for the Bronze medal game on Tuesday afternoon that will have Finland taking on Sweden at 3:30 pm (local time).
