CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada is pleased to announce the signing of Domino’s Pizza as an International Marketing Partner and the title sponsor and launch of Hockey Canada’s Domino’s Skills Standards and Testing Program (DSSTP).

Hockey Canada created the Domino’ National Skills Standards and Testing Program for minor hockey-aged players in Canada in an effort to celebrate skill acquisition in young players. This program is based on the fundamental philosophy that skill development should be fun and challenging and at the same time accessible to all players in the Canadian minor hockey system.

Hockey Canada will be hosting a series of Domino’s Skills Challenges all across Canada during Hockey Canada national, international, development and Branch events, the first of which will take place during Hockey Canada Week on Friday, November 10th at the 2006 4 Nations Cup in Kitchener, ON.

How can you get involved? Visit www.hockeycanada.ca/skillstesting. Minor hockey teams can download information on this website, including ice set up, team recording sheets and station posters, and then can register and enter each of the player’s scores on the website database to reveal scores and comparisons from other players and teams across the country.

The Hockey Canada Domino’s Skills Challenge is a series of four individual tests taken from the Domino’s National Skills Standards and Testing Program. The four tests are designed to measure a player’s skill level in a fun and easy fashion. The testing measures: weave - agility skating, shooting accuracy, transition - agility skating and forward speed skating. Hockey Canada will host skills challenges across the country during Hockey Canada national, international, development and Branch events. Participants can compare scores and results online to measure how they stack up against the competition.

Geoff Linquist, Vice President, Operations for Domino's Pizza of Canada Ltd says the partnership only makes sense. “In Canada, combining Pizza with Hockey is natural. Domino’s Pizza of Canada and its Franchisees are very excited about our partnership with Hockey Canada and we look forward to working together.”

Johnny Misley, Vice-President, Hockey Operations for Hockey Canada is pleased with the support from Domino’s Pizza. “Having Domino’s Pizza as the title sponsor for the Domino’s Skills Challenge allows us to extend our skill testing program across the country.”
