Russian player Nikolai Kulemin (#14) and Slovak player Jozef Wagenhoffer (#19) have both been suspended for one additional game after each player received Match Penalties in the Russia-Slovakia game on Wednesday, December 28.

In accordance with International Ice Hockey Federation regulations, the two players were automatically suspended for one game following the Match Penalty. However, all Match Penalties are reviewed by the Tournament Disciplinary Committee to see if further action is warranted. On the morning of December 28, it was decided by the Tournament Disciplinary Committee that the players should be suspended for one additional game.

Nikolai Kulemin has already served one game of his suspension and has one game left. He will not participate in the Russia-Czech Republic game. Jozef Waggenhoffer still has both games to serve and will not participate in his team’s games against the Czech Republic and Sweden. Both players may return once the suspensions have been served.

The Disciplinary Committee is comprised of the Tournament Directorate Members. Only those teams that were not directly affected by the outcome of the suspensions were permitted to vote on the additional game suspension.
