SARNIA, ON – The gold medal game on Sunday, March 13 at the 2005 Esso Women’s National Hockey Championship will feature a battle between the two Ontario teams, the host team, Toronto Aeros versus the Brampton Thunder. The gold medal game will be broadcast LIVE on TSN and RDS on Sunday at 3:00pm ET / 12noon PT.

The two Ontario teams each won their semi-final games on Saturday in Sarnia to get them to the gold medal match-up on Sunday.

Saturday’s semi-final match-ups featured Ontario Host (Aeros) versus Quebec, and Ontario (Brampton) versus Team BC.  The Aeros and Quebec battled to a 2-2 tie late into the third period of play, but the Aeros’ Heather Logan scored a goal with 2:22 left in the game to give her team the lead, which they held on to, to win 3-2.  Logan was named player of the game for the Aeros, while Quebec goaltender Charline Labonte was named player of the game for Quebec.

In the other semi-final, Ontario (Brampton) beat Team BC by the score of 4-0.  Brampton’s offence was too much to handle for Team BC, as they went up 4-0 after the 1st period and never looked back.  Brampton’s Jayna Hefford lead the attack with 1 goal and 2 assists, while line-mate Vicky Sunohara added 1 goal and 1 assist.  Gillian Ferrari was named player of the game for Brampton, while Kelly Thompson was named as Team BC’s player of the game.
