Canada Moves to Montreal to Start The Tourney
Team Canada completed their training camp on Saturday in Ottawa after a series of practices and three exhibition games (1-1-1), and has traveled to Montreal to prepare for the opening game of the World Cup 2004. The players boarded the bus in Ottawa on Sunday afternoon for a short two hour trip East to Montreal. After a morning practice and media conference at the Bell Centre on Monday, the players had the afternoon off to get focused on the game Tuesday.
“For me, this is a great opportunity to play in front of friends and family,” said starting goalie Martin Brodeur. “My Dad attended practice this morning and was able to take pictures of the guys, which he really enjoys.” Martin’s father, Denis Brodeur, is a long time sports photographer in Montreal. Many of his pictures are displayed throughout the rooms and halls of the Bell Centre.
The Bell Centre is already sold out for both of Canada’s games in Montreal, and the atmosphere should be electric by the time the puck drops on Tuesday night.
Watch Team Canada vs. USA on Tuesday at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT on CBC/SRC.
