Icetimes and Red/White Game Times and Dates Announced for National Junior Team Development Camp

CALGARY, ALBERTA - Dates and times for practices and Red/White intersquad games were announced on Tuesday by the Canadian Hockey Association and the Canadian Hockey League, for the National Junior Team's Development Camp that will take place August 10-20 in Halifax, NS at the Metro Centre.

MEDIA: Media requesting to attend any of the practices and/or intersquad games are asked to present proof of employment and receive accreditation and camp information at the Halifax Metro Centre. Accreditation will be available one hour prior to practices and two hours prior to games.

"We look forward to welcoming these young Canadians and wish each of them well as they compete for the honor of representing Canada in the 2003 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship," said Fred MacGillivray, 2003 IIHF WJHC Host Committee Chair. "The Summer Development Camp signifies the beginning of the greatest sporting event ever hosted in Nova Scotia."

Forty-five players will attend this year's camp and will be trying to impress the coaching staff with the ultimate goal of representing Canada at the 2002 World Junior Hockey Championship. Head coach Marc Habscheid, of the Kelowna Rockets (WHL), and assistant coaches Mario Durocher of the Sherbrooke Castors (QMJHL), and Mike Kelly will run practices and coach intra-squad games during the camp.

Following the ten-day camp, Head Scout Blair Mackasey will continue to evaluate the play of these and other players during the 2002- 2003 hockey season and invite a group of players to the National Junior Team selection camp in December, 2002 prior to the World Junior Hockey Championship in Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia from to .
