CALGARY, AB - The Canadian Hockey Association named Andy Moog as a goaltending consultant for Canada's Men's Olympic Team and Canada's National Junior Team, the CHA announced on Wednesday.

Moog, 41, will assist the Men's Olympic Team in assessing the goaltenders who may play for other countries. With the National Junior Team, Moog will assist the coaching staff led by Stan Butler, of the OHL's Brampton Battalion, in coaching and evaluating the goaltenders during the team's Selection Camp in December, 2001.

"Andy's background in international hockey and his current responsibilities with the Vancouver Canucks make him a perfect fit for this role," said Wayne Gretzky, Executive Director of Canada's National Men's Olympic Team. "As we prepare for Salt Lake City, Andy will provide us with valuable information on each country's goaltending which plays such a critical role in the outcome of any game. Let's face it, with shootouts being part of the game, it's vital that we know the tendancies of every goaltender."

Moog is a goaltending consultant with the NHL's Vancouver Canucks and served in this same capacity in 2000-2001 with Canada's National Junior Team.

During a 18-year professional career, Moog played a total of 713 games, winning three Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers. The native of Penticton, BC also represented Canada during the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada.
