CALGARY, ALBERTA - Brian Finley, of the Barrie Colts (OHL), and Brian Sutherby, of the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL) will not be attending the National Junior Team's Selection Camp December 13-18, 2000 due to injury, the Canadian Hockey Association and the Canadian Hockey League announced on Monday.

Finley, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, was one of eight returning players from last year's bronze medal winning National Junior Team. Finley suffered a groin injury last week.

Sutherby, a native of Edmonton, AB, attended Canada's National Junior Team's evaluation camp in August and was looking to play for National Junior Team for the first time. Sutherby was diagnosed with appendicitis and had an appendectomy.

Meanwhile, forward Nathan Smith, a native of Ardrossan, AB, has been added to the Selection Camp roster in place of the injured Sutherby. Smith plays with the WHL's Swift Current Broncos and was a 1st round selection of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He had taken part in the team's Evaluation Camp this past August.

The National Junior Team's Selection Camp Roster now stands at 33 players, including 4 goaltenders, 11 defencemen and 18 forwards.

Canada's National Junior Team's Selection Camp will run from December 13-18, 2000 at the Beatrice Ice Gardens on the York University campus in Toronto, ON. The team will be holding daily practices, two intersquad games on December 14th and 15th as well as two exhibition games, on December 16th and 17th, against All-Star Teams made up Ontario University players. All practices are open to the public free of charge. Tickets for the intersquad and exhibition games are available through the Beatrice Ice Gardens at 416-661-5900, ext. 278 or purchase them at the door.
