CALGARY, AB - The Canadian Hockey Association will announce the National Junior Team Evaluation Camp Roster and the National Under 18 Roster live and exclusively on-line at www.canadianhockey.ca on Friday, June 4th 1999 at 2 pm (EDT), noon (MT).

"This is a unique and exciting event for the Canadian Hockey Association as we take advantage of our web site to unveil to the entire country who has been selected for these camps," said Bob Nicholson, President, Canadian Hockey Association."As we begin the process towards selecting our first National Junior Team of the millenium, it is only fitting that the internet become an important communication tool."

Forty-two players will be invited to the National Junior Team Evaluation Camp, set for August 3-10 at the Beatrice Ice Gardens in Toronto, ON. The complete roster will be unveiled on Friday. Claude Julien, head coach and general manager of the Hull Olympiques (QMJHL), was named Head Coach of the team earlier this week. His assistant coaches will be Geoff Ward, formerly the head coach of the Guelph Storm (OHL) and Todd McLellan, the head coach and general manager of the Swift Current Broncos (WHL)

Canada has won the World Junior Championship a record 10 times in the history of the tournament, including seven of the last ten gold medals. Team Canada won an unprecedented five straight World Junior titles from 1993-97 and won the silver medal last year in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Over the past five years, the Canadian Hockey League has supplied over 90 percent of the players who have represented Canada at this event. The Canadian Hockey League's partnership with the Canadian Hockey Association has been key to the continued success of the National Junior Program.

Twenty-two players will also be named to the National Under 18 Team on Friday, on the CHA's web site. Stan Butler, Head coach and General Manager of the Brampton Battalion (OHL), is the National Under 18 Team's head coach. He will be assisted by Kevin Dickie, head coach of the Acadia Axemen (CIAU), and Don Nachbaur, head coach of the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL).
