CALGARY, AB -- Andrew Ference of the Western Hockey League's Portland Winter Hawks and Robyn Regehr of the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL, both defensemen, have been added to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp roster, the Canadian Hockey Association and the Canadian Hockey League announced Tuesday.

Head Coach Tom Renney will work with assistants Claude Julien, head coach of the Hull Olympiques of the QMJHL, Stan Butler, head coach of the expansion Brampton Battalion of the OHL and Barry Trapp the CHA's Director of Scouting to name the final roster of 22 players that will be chosen on Dec. 18.

The additions of Ference and Regehr bring the number of players attending the selection camp to 32, with 4 goaltenders, 10 defensemen and 18 forwards.

Ference, from Sherwood Park, AB, was a member of the 1998 Memorial Cup champions in Portland, as well as the CHL 1997-98 season's plus/minus leader with a plus 75. Ference was also a member of Canada's 1996 National Under 18 Team, and is draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins (8th pick, 208th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Regehr, from Rosthern, SK, was a member of Canada’s Under 18 Team that won a tri-nation tournament in the Czech Republic in 1997. Regehr was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche (3rd pick, 19th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Team Canada's selection camp will be held at the Max Bell Arena in Winnipeg from Dec. 13-18. At that camp, the roster will be trimmed to 22 players for the World Junior Hockey Championship. On Dec. 18, the 22-player roster will move to Kenora, ON, for a pre-competition camp from Dec. 19-24. Canada's first game in the championship will be in Brandon, MB versus Slovakia, on Dec. 27 starting at 3:30pm (CST).

Any other additions to Team Canada’s selection camp roster would be made by the opening of the selection camp on Dec. 13.
