TOMAKOMAI, Japan -- Jason Young scored twice and Steve Junker had a goal and two assists Tuesday to pace Canada's National Team to a 5-2 victory over the Japanese National Team.

It was Canada's third victory in four games on the team's six-game tour of Japan, which will play host to the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano next February.

Canada built a 3-0 first-period lead on goals by Sean Selmser, Brett Clark and Young. Takeshi Yamanaka cut the lead to 3-2 with a pair of power-play goals -- the first at 4:49 of the second period, the second just 40 seconds into the third.

Late third-period goals by Junker and Young secured the victory for Canada in a series marred by chippiness and suspect refereeing.

'Composure and focus are important elements of any successful team effort and we certainly needed it tonight as the Japanese officials ruined the hockey game,' said National Team head coach Andy Murray.

The teams complete the six-game tour with a pair of games in Sapporo on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
