Matt Leitner scored the game winner 50 seconds into the third period and Eric Mihalik made 28 saves as the Americans took home gold for the second time in as many years. Eamonn McDermott also scored the for U.S., while Kellen Jones netted the lone goal for Canada West. Sean Bonar stopped 34 shots in a losing cause.

Sergey Barbashev scored a pair of goals in the dying minutes to put the game away as Russia returned to the WJAC podium for the first time since 2006 with a victory over the East.

Connor Jones and Wes McLeod both tied tournament records and Cody Kunyk notched a hat trick as the westerners set up a rematch of the 2008 gold medal game with a lopsided win.

 

UNITED STATES 6 - RUSSIA 3
SEMIFINAL | FRI. NOV. 6

Shane Berschbach, Jeff Costello and Colten St. Clair each had a goal and an assist as the Americans survived a late Russian push to earn the right to defend their 2008 gold medal.
