CALGARY, AB -- Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, announced on Friday
that Craig Hartsburg has been named Head Coach of Canada’s 2007 National Junior Team. Hartsburg,
who was an assistant coach with last year’s gold medal winning National Junior team in Vancouver, just
completed his second consecutive season as head coach of the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste. Marie
Greyhounds. Hartsburg will look to lead Canada to a third straight gold medal at the 2007 IIHF World
Junior Championship in Sweden from December 26, 2006 to January 5, 2007.
Hartsburg, a native of Stratford, ON, has a wealth of coaching experience including five and a half
seasons as head coach in the National Hockey League with Chicago and Anaheim, and four years as an assistant
coach with the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers, and one with Minnesota. In three seasons of coaching in the
Canadian Hockey League, Hartsburg has won the OHL and CHL Coach of the Year twice (with the Guelph Storm in
1995 and in his first stint with the Greyhounds in 2002). As a player, Hartsburg represented Canada six
times: 1987 Canada Cup (1st place), 1981 Canada Cup (2nd place), 1987, 1983, 1982 Men’s World Championships
(4th place, bronze medal, bronze medal) and the 1978 World Junior Championship (bronze) where he was named
the tournament’s top defenceman.

Hockey Canada and the CHL also announced on Friday the appointments of Clément Jodoin and Curtis Hunt as
assistant coaches of Canada’s 2007 National Junior Team. Jodoin, a native of St-Cesaire, QC, was an
assistant coach along with Hartsburg at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship in Vancouver, BC and has just
completed his second season as head coach of the QMJHL’s Lewiston MAINEiacs. Jodoin was an assistant coach
with the Montreal Canadiens for four seasons and for one season with Pittsburgh. Hunt, a native of
North Battleford, SK, recently completed his second season as head coach of the WHL’s Regina Pats and will be
joining Canada’s National Junior Team coaching staff for the first time, having previously been an assistant
coach with Canada’s 2005 gold medal winning Summer Under-18 Team (August) and Canada’s 2005 World Under-18
Championship team (April) which won a silver medal.

Canada will be looking for its 13th World Junior Championship gold medal in 2007, and its third in as many
years. The last time that Canada won three consecutive gold medals was during their remarkable run of
five consecutive gold medals from 1993-97.
NATIONAL JUNIOR SUMMER DEVELOPMENT CAMP
All three coaches will have the opportunity to evaluate Canada’s top Under 20 aged players this summer at
Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Development Camp. The camp will be held July 22-28 in
Calgary, AB at the Father David Bauer Arena, including inter-squad games on July 25th, 26th and 28th. A
detailed camp schedule will be released in June. A list of players invited to this July camp in Calgary
will also be announced in June.
