Needing only a tie to wrap up its fourth gold medal in as many tries, Canada gets a goal from Romeo Rivers with six minutes to go to pull even with the United States at 3-3. Three overtime periods solve nothing and the game is called a draw, giving Canada gold. » more

Five different goal scorers – Stelio Zupancich, Tim Watters, Ken Berry, John Devaney and Kevin Primeau – got their names on the scoresheet as Canada scored the game’s final four goals to earn a win over Poland and move its record to 2-0. » more

Dave Trottier scored five goals as Canada opened its Olympic tournament with a blowout win over Sweden. Impressed with the skill of the Canadians, Olympic officials allowed them to skip the preliminary round and go straight to the medal round. » more

Six different players scored goals and Paul Pageau needed to make just 13 saves for the shutout as Canada blanked Japan. The Canadians scored twice in the first period, twice in the second and twice more in the third en route to victory. » more

Trailing 3-2 entering the third period, Canada rattled off five unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes to score a semifinal win over the Finns and advance to the gold medal game for the second time in as many Olympics. Canada stayed in gold medal contention with a tight one-goal win over the Swedes in Squaw Valley. The Canadians set a national Olympic record by allowing four goals in the first period, but came back to defeat Sweden for the eighth consecutive time at the Olympics. » more

In the final Olympic game featuring a Canadian club team, Bob Attersley racked up four assists, three of them in the first period, as the Canada beat the Soviets for the first time at the Olympics.
