AMENDMENT TO: Existing CHA BY-Laws and Regulations

NEW WORDING:
1. Change where necessary, Canadian Inter-University Athletic Union (CIAU) with Canadian Inter-University
Sports (CIS)
2. Article 5.11.(I) should now read as: Hockey New Brunswick, which shall have jurisdiction over the
Province of New Brunswick. (subject to membership approval)
3. Article 5.11.(K) should now read as: Hockey Nova Scotia , which shall have jurisdiction over the
Province of Nova Scotia.
4. Article 5.11.(L) should now read as: Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, which shall have jurisdiction
over the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
5. Article 5.11.(M) should now read as: Hockey North, which shall have jurisdiction over the Northwest
Territories and over the Nunavut Territories.
6. By-Law 8.806.b
b. The ballots shall be given to the secretary who shall assign one point to the last nominee on each ballot
and two points to the second last so that the first nominee will receive a number of points equal to the
number of nominees certified for selection.
Rationale: existing wording is unclear.
7. By-Law 9.906.a
a. The expenses of the Officers of this Association, the Representative from the Canadian Hockey League, the
Athlete Representatives, and the Association's Representatives from each Council, ….
Rationale: the absence of mention that their expenses are covered at our meetings is an oversight and not
reflective of the current practice.
8. Regulation B.1 - include the wording approved last year for the age change.
9. Regulation F.43 - Delete (The reference is to E.62. and E.64 which do not exist.)
10. Regulation H.8.f ii should now read as follows:(ii) Junior players who become over-age as a result of
league self-imposed age restrictions, whether part of a club or not, shall, for the purpose of interpreting
this regulation be deemed free agents as of November 1 of the current season.
Rationale: E 63 does not exist as a reference
11. Regulation H.8.h - Delete (The reference is to B. 11-13, which do not exist.)
12. CHA Order of Merit Regulation #9 should now read as follows:
One award winner from the four Atlantic Branches.
One award winner from the four Central Branches and one award winner from the five Western Branches may be
selected annually.

o #13 Change Central Canada to Central Region
o #14 Change Atlantic Canada to Atlantic Region

Conclude the history after the first paragraph on page 158. If possible add after that paragraph a listing of
the years the various Branches joined the CHA.
The remainder of this section is part of our web site's history pages and this can be expanded to record our
various domestic and international championship histories and trophy winners.
