The 83rd Annual Canadian Hockey Association Annual General Meeting gets underway on Thursday night in
Edmonton, Alberta.
Over 400 delegates from coast to coast in Canada are in attendance at this year's meetings, representing
the various hockey administration and development levels of hockey in Canada.

Roger Neilson, of Toronto, ON, received the Gordon Juckes Award, which
recognizes the outstanding contribution of an individual to the development of amateur hockey in Canada at
the National Level. Neilson, of the Philadelphia Flyers, was selected for the many years involved in the
enhancement of hockey development programs in Canada.
Dana Dickenson, of Saint John, NB received the Volunteer of the Year Award,
which recognizes an outstanding volunteer who has contributed to amateur hockey and the CHA. Steeves has been
the
president of the New Brunswick Amateur Hockey Association for 8 years, and has been involved in hockey as a
volunteer and administrator for 22 years.
Susan Dalziel, of Borden-Carlton, PEI, was the recipient of the Female Breakthrough
Award, which is in honor of an individual who has made a significant contribution to the promotion
and/or development of female hockey in Canada. Dalziel is the Chairwoman of the PEIHA's Female Council and
has devoted her energies and attention to women's hockey for the past 25 years.
Doug Steeves, of Tracey Mills, NB, and Ken Corbett, of Nepean, ON were
named as the CHA Order of Merit recipients. The Order of Merit was instituted in 1960 to
"honor those individuals who for many years have served amateur hockey faithfully, having participated as
players, served as coaches and association members, and made outstanding contributions to Canadian amateur
hockey." |
