CALGARY, Alta. – It’s time to break the ice.
Canada’s National Women’s Team will take to the ice Thursday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27 for
the Icebreaker Tournament, taking on three Midget AAA boys teams from the Alberta Midget Hockey League – the
Calgary Flames, Calgary Royals and UFA Bisons. The event will be held at Calgary’s Father David Bauer Olympic
Arena.

The tournament will launch the pre-season for the National Women’s Team and Alberta Midget League. The
recently announced National Women’s Team Midget Series, which will see the women face off against each and
every Midget AAA boys team in Alberta, will begin on October 13. The series will run through the end of
January and will include more than 30 games.
“We’re looking forward to getting in some games this weekend against skilled, fast Midget AAA hockey
players,” says Melody Davidson, head coach of Canada’s National Women’s Team. “We know the Bisons, Flames and
Royals will provide great competition for our team.”
Canada will play its first game on Thursday night against the Flames (8:30 p.m.). The Royals and Bisons will
open the tournament at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Game-day tickets for the National Women’s Team Icebreaker Tournament are $5 each. Fans also have the option
