BRECLAV, Czech Republic – Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team will play for gold at the 2009
Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament when it faces Russia on Saturday, August 15 in Breclav. Canada will be
after its second-consecutive gold medal at the tournament; it beat Russia 6-3 in last year’s gold medal
game.

Canada completed preliminary round play with a 9-0 win over the Czech Republic on Thursday to move its
record in Pool A to 3-0. It also recorded wins over Sweden and Switzerland. The Russians finished first in
Pool B with a 3-0 record, including wins over Slovakia, the United States and Finland.
On Thursday, Canada scored a pair of goals in the opening 71 seconds to jump to a quick lead before
cruising to victory. Jeffrey Skinner (Markham, Ont./Kitchener, OHL) led the offence with a pair of goals,
while Tyler Toffoli (Scarborough, Ont./Ottawa, OHL) added a goal and two assists. Louis Domingue (Mont
St-Hilaire, Que./Moncton, QMJHL) turned aside all 23 shots he faced for the shutout as Canada got the
eight-goal margin it needed to ensure Saturday’s gold medal game would be in Breclav, where it has played all
of its preliminary round games.
There will be no TV or radio coverage of the gold medal game. Hockey Canada’s official website,
www.hockeycanada.ca, is the place to find complete coverage of Canada at the tournament.
Players and staff will return to Canada on Sunday, August 16. See below for specific flight itineraries
