REGINA – Do you want to enjoy more than just the action on the ice at the 2010 IIHF World Junior
Championship? Then come for the hockey, stay for the party.
WorldFest, to be held at Evraz Place from December 26-31, will feature live music and entertainment.
Programming includes a professional MC, a mix of local bands and nationally known talent, and plenty of video
screens to watch all the World Junior action.
“We know the hockey will be at the international level, and now we’re planning on raising the party to that
level as well,” says Carmen Giblet, vice-president of WorldFest with the Regina host organizing committee.
“Saskatchewan people love hockey and enjoying themselves and we’ll be offering both next December.”
The opening face-off for WorldFest takes place December 26 with a championship-opening cabaret following the
game at 1 p.m. CT at the Brandt Centre between the Czech Republic and Sweden. During the event, WorldFest
will open two hours before each game and will run until 2 a.m. every night. The final horn sounds on December
31 with a New Year’s Eve cabaret following the final Regina game between Russia and the Czech Republic.
“During the round robin, three days will feature games at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Brandt Centre, and we want
to entertain fans between those games with music, food and entertainment, all without having to leave the
building,” Giblet says. “After those 5 p.m. games, we will encourage fans to come over to WorldFest and catch
the action from the 7 p.m. game in Saskatoon.”
The host organizing committee is also launching World Junior Ticket Day in Saskatchewan on May 13. With the
support of Saskatchewan’s media community, May 13 marks the second wave of ticket sales as the new,
additional seats in both the Brandt Centre and Credit Union Centre will be available to the public. Ticket
prices for these seats will be released on May 13 at 10 a.m. MT at www.ticketmaster.ca.
