“We are now looking to the community to expand our team that will help us host this world-class event,”
says John Lee, senior vice-president of the Saskatchewan host organizing committee. “This is an exciting
opportunity for volunteers to take part in this prestigious event as our city welcomes the world this
December. And we are thrilled to have SaskEnergy on board as the official volunteer sponsor to help recruit
our team of volunteers.”
“SaskEnergy’s commitment to volunteers has helped our province showcase many national and world-class
events, and this December because of Saskatchewan’s volunteers, we’ll host the best World Junior Hockey
Championship ever,” said Christine Tell, Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport, on behalf of Ken
Cheveldayoff, Minister of Crown Corporations. “While SaskEnergy is supporting the tournament’s volunteers, I
know many of the corporation’s employees will be among the first to sign up and donate their time and energy
behind the scenes to make this event possible.”
The City of Regina will play host to five European teams, Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic, Finland and
Austria, during the Regina 10-game round robin portion of the WJC that begins December 26, 2009 at the Brandt
Centre. Regina will also play host to Team Canada’s selection camp as well as two Team Canada pre-competition
games to be announced later.
“We need 1,000 enthusiastic volunteers to help host the 12 games in Regina, “says Dawn Kobayashi,
vice-president of volunteers of the Regina host organizing committee. “There are numerous opportunities for
volunteers to participate including hosting, transportation, security and more. We know the people of Regina
will help put on a first-class show when the puck drops in Regina in December 2009.”

relegation round and medal round games beginning December 26, 2009 and concluding with the gold medal game
