CANADA’S NATIONAL MEN’S UNDER-18 TEAM TO PLAY FOR BRONZE MEDAL AT 2009 IIHF WORLD UNDER-18 CHAMPIONSHIP

FARGO, N.D. – Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team will play for the bronze medal at the 2009 IIHF World Under-18 Championship after a 2-1 loss in its semifinal against the United States on Friday night.

Canada will face Finland for bronze on Sunday afternoon. The bronze medal game is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on TSN and RIS. Check your local listings for broadcast times in your area.

On Friday, Dylan Olsen (Calgary, Alta./Camrose, AJHL) scored Canada’s lone goal, converting on a second-period power play. Canadian netminder Michael Zador (Toronto, Ont./Oshawa, OHL) made 42 saves, 19 of them in the third period. Despite the loss, Canada will play for a medal for the seventh time in eight appearances all-time at the IIHF World Under-18 Championship.

The gold medal game between the United States and Russia will be shown live on TSN2 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and tape delayed to 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on TSN and 3 p.m. ET/noon PT on Monday on RDS. Check your local listings for broadcast times in your area.
