Ken Farmer scored five goals and Hugh Farquharson adds four of his own as Canada hammers the Hungarians,
rebounding from its first-ever Olympic loss to Great Britain just two days earlier.
1980 – Canada 10 - Netherlands 1
The Dutch surprised Canada with the game’s opening goal, but the Canadians rattled off six unanswered goals
in the final 20 minutes, including the last two goals of Ken Berry’s hat trick, as Canada opened its first
Olympics in 12 years with a victory.
1992 – Canada 10 - Norway 0
Dave Archibald and Gord Hynes scored two goals apiece and Joe Juneau added four assists as Canada won its
third game in as many tries with a romp over Norway. Eighteen-year-old Eric Lindros added a goal and two
assists in the win.
1998 – Canada 4 - Finland 2 (women’s)
Therese Brisson scored twice to spark Canada to a 3-0 lead en route to a victory over Finland, wrapping up a
berth in the first-ever gold medal game for women’s hockey. Geraldine Heaney and Danielle Goyette also scored
for the Canadians.
2006 – Canada 12 - Russia 0 (women’s)
Celebrating her 19th birthday in style, Meghan Agosta scored a hat trick as Canada cruised to victory over
the Russians. Cherie Piper also finished with a three-goal game, while Hayley Wickenheiser had a goal and
three assists.
