MONTREAL, QC – Two winners have been announced in the ITECH Design-A-Mask contest, brought to you by
Golden Grahams and General Mills. The masks designed by the winners will be worn by Canada’s National Junior
Team goaltenders during the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship, December 26, 2008 to January 5, 2009 in
Ottawa, ON.
In the 12-and-Under category, Nathan Leung of Tecumseh, ON was chosen as the best design, while AJ Whiffen
of Weyburn, SK is the winner in the 13-to-18 category. More than 1,000 entries were received for the ITECH
Design-A-Mask contest, brought to you by General Mills.
Apart from the thrill of having their designs chosen by the hockey industry’s top goaltender aficionados
and worn by Canada’s netminders, Nathan and AJ will also receive their very own duplicate, custom-painted
ITECH mask, which will be autographed by members of Canada’s National Junior Team.
In addition, one of the winning masks from the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship will be donated to the
Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto following the tournament and will go on display there.
This year marked the sixth year of the Design-A-Mask contest. Past winners have seen their masks worn by
the likes of NHL first-overall selection Marc-André Fleury and gold-medal-winning netminders Jeff Glass,
Justin Pogge and Steve Mason.
