HOCKEY CANADA AND MOLSON CANADIAN
TO TURN AVERAGE JOES INTO HOCKEY PROS

Four recreational hockey teams to win
a chance to be treated like Team Canada

CALGARY – Hockey Canada, in partnership with Molson Canadian, announced on Wednesday that four adult recreational teams – two from Alberta and two from across Canada – will win the chance to be treated like one of Canada’s national teams.

The four winning teams will be flown to Hockey Canada’s head office in Calgary, where they will receive exclusive world class training at Team Canada’s facility, including private coaching sessions from guest coaches, video review and exhibition games. In addition, all four teams will be outfitted like all of Canada’s national teams.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for rec hockey players to live their ultimate hockey fantasies,” says Chris Bell, manager of sponsorship operations with Molson. “Once we’re done with them, it’ll take a Zamboni® to wipe the smiles off their faces.”

To enter the contest, visit www.molsoncanadian.ca/rechockey. Teams already registered with Hockey Canada will receive an extra entry upon submission.

The contest’s objective is to promote adult recreational hockey across the country and educate players about the membership benefits being offered to adult rec hockey players who register with Hockey Canada. The contest will mark the launch of a new focus on adult rec hockey across Canada, including regional and national championships in the coming years.

”We’re proud that the sport of hockey is growing, not only at the minor hockey and high-performance areas, but also as a recreational sport,” says Scott Smith, Hockey Canada’s chief operating officer. “This program will give your average hockey players the chance to be treated like members of our national teams.”

The new adult recreational program allows players to register with Hockey Canada through its members branches under its all-encompassing insurance program for flat fee of only $20. This is part of Hockey Canada’s mandate to provide service to all levels of hockey in Canada.

Hockey Canada’s Adult Recreation program is in place to provide adult recreation players across Canada with health and safety awareness, access to Hockey Canada’s current resources, league scheduling and stats program, future regional and national adult recreation events, and great insurance while being involved in Hockey Canada-sanctioned activities. This eliminates or minimizes the potential financial burden members may face in the event that they are injured or implicated in a civil action arising from their participation.
