Port Alberni hockey fans will get a preview of what is to come this December as BC Hockey brings its
under-17 development program to the Alberni Valley. Forty-eight players from across British Columbia – all
vying for 11 spots on Team Pacific for the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge – will attend the development
camp in Nanaimo from July 21-26, and the second intersquad game will hit the ice at the Port Alberni
Multiplex on July 25th.
PLANNED EVENTS INCLUDE:
2:00 p.m. – Coaches Hot Stove
This session, scheduled for the upper lounge at the Multiplex, will offer an opportunity for local
coaches and the media to chat with the Team Pacific coaching staff and gain some insight into BC Hockey’s
High Performance program and the 2009 edition of Team Pacific.
3:30 p.m. – Intersquad Game
The province’s best U17 players will take to the ice for the second game of the Ted Hargreaves
Memorial Cup, a three-game series played annually at the U17 development camp. Admission to the game is FREE,
on a first-come-first-served basis. The other two games of the series will take place in Nanaimo – check out
www.bchockey.net for more information on the U17
development camp.
6:00 p.m. – Dennis Jonsson GM Tailgate Party
Join players, staff and organizers for a good old-fashioned tailgate party in the Multiplex parking
lot following the game. The Shriners will be serving up burgers and hot dogs on the grill and the Marumba
Band will provide the entertainment.
